Miniature Pottery Vase Half Inch Scale Mirror Shiny Glaze with Narrow Neck

Miniature Pottery Vase Half Inch Scale Mirror Shiny Glaze with Narrow Neck

A half inch scale miniature pottery vase in my favorite metallic mirror glaze. This tiny piece has a very delicate and tiny narrow neck. The piece is versatile and could fit as a small bottle in a 1:12 inch scale diarama or dollhouse, or as a medium/large vase in a 1:24 inch scene.

Maddie’s miniatures are a craft handed passed on from her aunt, nationally recognized miniaturist Jane Graber. Maddie creates these tiny pieces using a wheel she built herself, her fingers and a needle tool. Each piece is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind artisan miniature.

Over the course of her time at Goshen College, she apprenticed with six artists across the United States and has received numerous awards for her work including the Maple Scholars Research Grant in 2017, in which she designed and built her own miniature pottery wheel. Gerig Shelly has also held a variety of positions in the arts, writing, and social work, serving as in roles such as resident volunteer in an Atlanta Catholic Worker House and as a preschool art teacher in Ayacucho, Peru. She and her husband Ben recently relocated to Buffalo, NY.

I am interested in capturing an intimate moment with the viewer: shared seconds of authenticity. Quiet forms, reflective mirror finishes and soft porcelain build the personality of my pieces and demonstrate my own search for authenticity and delight. The intimate scale of my miniatures begs the viewer to come close and relish the moment.

My work is the process of searching for the root of something very human and very tender.
